Characteristics of Notebook Screen Display

One of the most important of notebook is the screen display. Especially for the portable office, which are used for 8-10 hours a day, should have an excellent display.

Basically, the displays are divided into displays with reflecting surface (glare type) and displays with non-reflective matt surface (non-glare type). The anti-mirror is made with a special surface treatment of the display, which reduces annoying reflections. Some manufacturers (Sony) apply a special coating to eliminate screen glare.

In addition to individual preferences should also consider the following experiences when deciding between a reflective screen or opaque:
  1. The reflective displays are better for color representation.
  2. The opaque displays require a brightness of at least 150cd / m² to provide a good image and be suitable for use in open environments.
  3. The reflective displays can hardly be used outdoors. The reflections in bright environments impede the work with these types of screens.
  4. Annoying reflections can also occur in closed environments (ie if a light source is behind the user)
  5. the displays with reflecting surface will eyestrain more than displays with matte finish.
On the one hand, the size and resolution of the display are related to the size of the laptop, the other depends on the type of use that the user intends to make portable models available.

There are widescreen displays and standard displays. The abbreviations (VGA, XGA, WXGA ,...) indicate the display format and resolution.

Usually, the reaction time of the display is indicated by the manufacturer. This can range up to 60ms (milliseconds) for displays with high stability of viewing angles. This value is fine for portable office and does not disturb.

Too long a reaction time can be problematic with multimedia applications and games with the (shooter), can appear as lines. This phenomenon can be observed while moving the mouse or the scroll is made.

Stability of viewing angles is especially important for mobile handsets, as it is not possible to maintain an optimal position. Therefore, a wide viewing angle vertically and horizontally is an advantage that ensures maximum mobility in combination with the best image quality.

Excessive deviations from the cone of vision can create problems of representation, darkening or bright light, color or deo fake reflections.

A very important aspect discussed is about the TFT displays error pixels. There are several types of errors, which differ in color. A permanent error white or black in the center of the display can be really annoying.
Almost all TFT displays are part of the class 2 pixel errors. This means that there is a default tolerance for error pixels.
Some manufacturers offer a guarantee zero-pixel-error, while others enter a tolerance of errors in the warranty conditions. If you want to be sure that your laptop does not have errors, you should consult your display on site or make use of the right of withdrawal provided for by law. A further possibility is to establish an agreement with the dealer.

However, it is possible that errors occur in days, months or years.
